Take the Lead

Take the Lead is currently my favourite dance movie.
Previous favourites were Dance with Me and Center Stage.
I recommend everyone who loves dancing (just to watch or actually dance) to see these movies. This movie will make you want to dance and lift your spirits up because of its happy ending.

The plot to this movie kind of reminds me of Sister Act. A bunch of kids in a public school misbehaving. And a nun/Antonio Banderas in this case, comes to the rescue and they sing/dance and manage to stay in school. We all know that this would never happen in real life, but it makes a good dancing movie where you mildly care about what happens to the characters.

Antonio Banderas gives a very charming performance. And the only dance scene that he has with a blonde woman doing the tango is one of the highlights of this movie. The other highlight is, of course, the dance competition where they all show-off their moves.

You'll laugh, you'll roll your eyes (due to some cheesiness), you'll want to dance. Good times.
